The Art of Lash Speed

Posted by Christina Vargas on

Tips for optimizing your lash application speed while maintaining meticulousness and client satisfaction.

We all aspire to be faster lash artists without compromising the quality of our work. Achieving that perfect balance between speed and precision is an art that requires practice, patience, and a keen eye for detail.

Remember, rushing through your lash sets can lead to messy work, mistakes and unhappy clients. It's essential to prioritize quality over quantity, especially when you're starting.

My Journey to Lash Speed

When I first began my lashing journey, completing a full set took me anywhere from 3.5 to 4 hours. It was a long and challenging process to refine.

However, with consistent practice and refining my techniques, I managed to reduce my application time to around 2 hours for full sets.

I want to emphasize the importance of self-compassion, especially when trying new styles.

It's okay to allocate extra time to perfect a new look. Ultimately, understanding your average application time will help you better manage your client schedule.

Tips for Lash Speed

  • Efficient Application Technique: Divide the lash line into sections and plan your next placement before applying the current extension. I prefer working from the middle outward, but find what suits you best.
  • Adhesive Mastery: Experiment with different adhesives to find the one with the perfect drying time for your environment. Understanding your adhesives viscosity is crucial for efficient application.
  • Tweezers That Feel Like an Extension of Your Hand: Your tweezers are your primary tools, so finding the right pair is essential. Don't hesitate to try different types until you find the perfect fit.
  • Optimal Lashing Environment: Your studio environment significantly impacts your adhesive's drying time. Maintain a consistent temperature to prevent issues like premature curing or excessive stickiness. Utilizing a  Hygrometer & Thermometer in your space will help you gauge your environment needs.
  • Patience and Practice: Improving your lash speed takes time. Focus on perfecting your technique, and the speed will naturally follow.

Remember: While speed is important, it should never compromise the quality of your work or your client's satisfaction.

By incorporating these tips and consistently practicing, you'll be well on your way to becoming a faster and more efficient lash artist without sacrificing the artistry of your creations.
